The newly founded Photon Energy Foundation brings solar power tooff-grid communities in
need. Decision makers, financialinstitutions and other organisations are invited to take part inchanging and
saving lives in the developing world. Christmas is anideal opportunity to play a big role with a small
contribution.
Photon Energy Foundation invites companies and organisationsworldwide to
participate in an important effort: ridding thedeveloping world of highly toxic and expensive fossil fuels
byreplacing them with solar power. “At the moment almost one infour people worldwide has no access
to the power grid”, saysPhoton Energy CEO Georg Hotar. “Deliveringsolar
power solutions to remote communities can make an enormousdifference and help kick-start the transformation
of entireregions.”
This year Photon Energy Foundation encourages companies
across theworld to join its initiative and to dedicate 1% or more of theirChristmas budget to this extremely
important cause. “Whenbudgeting money for Christmas parties, corporate gifts and holidaycards, we
invite organisations to set aside a small percentage fora charitable donation”, says Anastasiya
Stankevych ofPhoton Energy Foundation.
"Even an extremely low
initial investment into switchingto solar power – sometimes as low as 10 US$ - can be too much formost
people in remote communities. But this relatively tiny amountcan make a huge difference” explains
Anastasiya Stankevych.“No contribution is too small to make a difference”, shestresses.
Providing
clean and environmentally safe solar energy to off-gridcommunities in under-developed regions means
replacing toxic andalmost unaffordable fuel sources and dramatically improving thelives of millions. Giving
communities their own solar power meansfreeing up financial resources of estimated at 30 billion
US$worldwide which are currently wasted on kerosene and otherdangerous and unsustainable fuels.
